When to book flights from the Baltics: seasons, holidays and timing
By the Baltic Flights team · · 5 min read
Fares from the Baltics follow a rhythm: long bright summers and the festive season push demand up, while the quiet months in between are where the bargains hide. Knowing the calendar helps you decide not just when to fly, but when to buy.
The peaks: summer, Midsummer and the winter holidays
Summer is the high season, both for people leaving the Baltics for the sun and for visitors arriving to enjoy the Baltic coast. Midsummer, celebrated around the 23rd and 24th of June in all three countries, empties the cities for a few days and lifts fares around it. The weeks around Christmas and New Year are the other big peak.
The quiet months are your friend
Late autumn, late winter and early spring are usually the cheapest times to fly, especially for city breaks. If your dates are flexible, shifting a trip by a couple of weeks away from a holiday can save a surprising amount.
- School holidays raise prices on leisure routes: look at the weeks just before and after them.
- Public holidays turn nearby weekends into expensive long weekends.
- Check the month chart on the route page to see which months are cheapest.
How far ahead to book
For short European trips, watching the fare from about two to three months before departure and booking when it looks good works well for most travellers. Prices tend to rise in the final couple of weeks, so leaving it to the last minute rarely pays.
For long-haul trips and peak-season travel, start looking earlier: three to six months ahead is a sensible window.
Do not wait for a perfect price
There is no day of the week that is always cheapest to buy. What matters is knowing what a normal fare looks like for your route. Use the price calendar to learn that, set an alert, and book when the price is clearly below what you have been seeing.
